At the start of camp each morning, your child's group will get together with their counselors
to learn about the upcoming day and put on their sunscreen. Then they'll participate in a few sports or games (with a snack break mixed in) before lunch. One day they could
be playing ping pong and basketball, another day their morning might begin with a treasure hunt or handball game.
During lunch, there's always a camp contest, game show, trivia contest or similar fun activity that keeps the campers engaged, entertained and active. After lunch, the free
play period is a chance for your child to play with kids in other groups, practice the tennis serve they learned that morning, or just enjoy a shady spot under a tree.
Groups get back together after lunch for a role call before starting more fun activities that will take them through the end of the day. Each group's activities are based on
the group members' age, gender, and interests. While some groups are off playing Croquet, others may be running a relay race or jumping rope.
There is one thing that never changes at Olympic Summer Camp: the counselor-led group discussion after every activity. During these meetings, your child will be encouraged
to share their thoughts about what they did or didn't like about the game and their counselor will praise positive play attitudes. The goal is to keep everyone focused on
sportsmanship, teamwork, and cooperation instead of winning just to win.
Join in on Wild Wednesdays!
Every Wednesday, the entire camp goes on a field trip at a nearby kid-friendly attraction. We provide all transportation, as well as additional staff to ensure adequate
supervision. There is no additional cost for these trips, although the lunch option is still $5.
Planned trips include:
One week simply isn't enough time for your child to experience an enriching variety of activities, build new friendships, or progress significantly in the learning new
athletic skills. Two weeks enables us to teach your child more activities, which keeps them engaged and excited about camp. The more sports they explore, the more likely
they'll find one they enjoy and excel at.
During our Welcome Week, special emphasis is spent teaching rules and behavior guidelines. Campers primarily learn about basic techniques in a variety of sports and by
the end of Welcome Week, they have developed solid relationships and skills they can build on.
By week two, your child's counselor has learned their likes and dislikes, and creates a customized camp experience that gives them more confidence to succeed. During this
Olympic Week, focus shifts to skilled game playing and the entire camp engages in friendly competition every day.
The culmination of Olympic Week is Awards Day. Each group has a final meeting, where each camper is recognized individually. Your child will leave Olympic Summer Camp on a proud and positive note, with lasting friendships and memories.
